• Biography: Saranyu is one of the many ½ mermaids born to Junichiro & Palutena, being a day older than Rosalina and is the twin sister to Alcmene, which makes her part of the 3rd line of ½ Mermaids born to the family. As she was born a minute before Alcmene, she is the older twin. Growing up, Saranyu & Alcmene both wished to be heroes like their father is, though the twins had trouble deciding on a path. However, one day, they came across their older sisters Lyndis & Artemis harnessing the spirit of the Solstice Warriors, inspiring Saranyu & Alcmene to follow the same path themselves. Saranyu was noted to be a ray of sunshine, so she opted to represent the power & spirit of the Summertime, opting to train as a Solar Knight. As such, Saranyu apprenticed under Lyndis to learn how to harness the power of the Summer Solstice, and amazingly enough, Saranyu proved to be a quick study as she was able to cast fire & sun magic without any issues. In addition, she picked up knowledge of fighting with swords & spears as well as bows. However, Saranyu was unable to learn how to use Light magic, much to her disappointment, though Lyndis was nonetheless proud of the progress her sister made in training and said she’ll get the hang of light magic someday. To this end, Saranyu happily took to being known as the Solar Knight she wanted to be and now works to defend the peace of Hyrule, and her home world of Olympus, when she is needed to do so. As is to be expected from those in Juni’s family, Saranyu is a very friendly girl, inheriting only the best traits from her parents. Cheerful & upbeat, Saranyu ranks high as one of the sweetest girls in the family, tying with a good number of her older sisters like Aquarius & Pearl to name a few. Though she has proven herself to be a bit scatterbrained at times. For example, at one point, she was unaware that she was sinking in quicksand until someone had to point it out to her. She loves to explore forests & jungles but dislikes the sight of blight. Like a handful of her sisters, Saranyu is a proven absolute mudlark, and she will not hesitate to throw herself into a quicksand pit the moment she spots one. She also gets excited when signs of quicksand are discovered in the area she is exploring. Makes the cutest sun themed windchimes.
• Abilities: Being ½ Mermaid, Saranyu is capable of transforming into her mermaid form the moment she enters the water. As a mermaid, like all her other ½ mermaid siblings, she has excellent swimming speed, can breathe underwater without the need to surface for air; though she & her other sisters form gills to help with this, too, and she can commune with aquatic creatures of any kind. However, she primarily transforms while in either fresh or seawater. And like her mother & siblings, Saranyu strongly prefers the water to be clean before she thinks about transforming. Saranyu starts the party off as a Solar Knight, forming the Summer half of the 2nd Solstice Warrior pairing alongside her twin sister Alcmene. True to her profession, Saranyu handles physical attacks against her enemies with sword & spear as well as bows. However, while Saranyu can easily swing a spear, she doesn’t have the strength to handle heavier two-handed weapons like claymores & double axes. Although Saranyu is building up strength to handle these weapons, she’s actually okay with using one-handed swords & spears for the time being as she enjoys using a shield to defend herself and her allies more easily. Saranyu has knowledge of using Sun & Fire magic as well to go with her profession and is actually pretty strong magic wise. Her starting gear & magics are as follows.
o Sun Knight Armor: Saranyu’s personal armor. This tough Damascus steel plated armor from the chest to the greaves is extremely tough to the point that it can take some serious abuse. Despite its bulky appearance, it’s actually nice & comfortable to wear for long periods.
o Sun Cape: A cape imbued with solar magic sewn together by Saranyu’s mother Palutena. The cape may appear fashionable only, but like Lyn’s Sun Cape, it provides Saranyu with a significant boost to her magic power when using solar magic and reduces magic consumption by half while worn. However, Saranyu can also throw her cape at undead enemies to stop them from moving & leave them vulnerable to attack.
o Omaha: Saranyu’s personal horse. She happens to be an extremely gentle horse, matching a Clydesdale in terms of temperament perfectly. However, he can kick hard on enemies that’re too close for comfort. He is the mate of Alcmene’s horse Wintergreen.
o Sol Sword: A double-edge sword with slightly higher attack power but with slightly shorter range. This has runes on it that imbue it with sun magic & enable it to fire off sword beams when outside in the sun, or at full health while inside or during the night.
o Flamberge: A basic flame-bladed blade that has middling attack power but lacks the sun magic runes. However, it has a gem that can take in sun magic, or fire magic, to give it increased attack power, and the ability to fire sword beams.
o Sun Partisan: A sharp spear that gains strength in direct sunlight when equipped. It can deal nasty damage to undead enemies.
o Master Sword: Like some of her sisters, Saranyu has her own version of the legendary Blade of Evil’s Bane. While indeed not the original sword, it is just as strong as the original and works just as well. It is capable of firing sword beams when Lyn is at full health and can attack with Skyward Strikes as well.
o Sun Shield: A shield that radiates a warm light in the darkest areas. It makes for a good source of light as a result.
o Mirror Shield: A shield with a polished, gleaming sheen. Its mirrored surface reflects light brilliantly.
o Helios Bow: A bow with a motif akin to the Sun God Helios. Though not as strong as Lyn’s Apollo Bow, it still has the power to ignite enemies and stun redeads & gibdos.
o Knight’s Broadsword: Knights of Hyrule once carried this sword. These days it's the weapon of choice for seasoned adventurers thanks to its ease of use and high attack power. This one is so well cared for that it won’t come close to breaking.
o Knight’s Halberd: A spear used by knights adept in mounted combat. The spearhead is modeled after an axe. This one is so well cared for that it won’t come close to breaking.
o Knight’s Bow: The sturdy metal construction of this bow offers superior durability, while its lack of firing quirks makes it quite reliable. Once favored by the knights at Hyrule Castle. This one is so well cared for that it won’t come close to breaking.
o Knight’s Shield: A shield favored by the knights who served the Hyrulean royal family. Its sturdy metal construction makes it quite durable, but its weight requires decent skill to wield. This one is so well cared for that it won’t come close to breaking.
o Flameblade: This magical sword was forged in the lava of Death Mountain. It leaves white-hot flames in its wake when the blade glows red. This one is well cared for. It won’t break.
o Flamespear: A magical spear forged in the magma of Death Mountain. Attacking when the blade glows lets it expel powerful flames. This one is well cared for. It won’t break.
o Fire Rod: This rod spits out a ball of fire that will sear most enemies to a crisp. Some enemies are especially vulnerable to fire. The Fire Rod can also be used like the lantern to light torches, but from a distance. Saranyu feeds the rod her own magic power, so it won’t break on her.
o Meteor Rod: A magical rod that can cast three fireballs at once, crafted by an ancient magician. Saranyu makes this one last longer by feeding it her own magic power.
o Solar Magic: Saranya’s primary magic. This harnesses the sun’s power to burn foes with fire & light all at once. It can not only stun undead but also light them on fire. Saranyu’s spells include Sunball, Solar Rain, Solar Blaze, Solar Beam, and Solar Blade.
o Pyromancy: The power of fire magic. Saranyu is able to bend fire to her will & use it in any shape or form that she desires. She is also able to cast strong fire spells on a whim, and she knows plenty such as Fire Sabre, Flame Wall, Flame Stone, Flare, and even Bombos & Din's Fire.
